ASTIR PALACE VOULIAGMENIS S.A.

Polychronis S. Griveas, Deputing Managing Director

On October 1st 2006, Mr Polychronis S. Griveas joined the Astir Palace’s Board of Directors, appointed to the Deputy Managing Director’s position. He is an MBA graduate of highly acclaimed hotel management schools in Switzerland and the United States of America.

Mr. Griveas has held several executive level positions in top notch properties on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean such as the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, the XV Beacon Hotel and Foxwoods Resorts & Casinos. From 1999 to 2003 he was the President and Managing Director of PSG Hospitality, a consulting firm, focusing in the Hotel and Restaurant industry. Prior to undertaking his new role at Astir, he served, for a period of 3.5 years, as the Chief Operating Officer of the Sofitel Capsis Hotels and General Manager of its 700 guestroom resort and largest Conference Center in Greece.

He is member of:

- HCIMA (Hotel and Catering International Management Association),
- AHEPA (American Hellenic Education Progressive Association).

 

Paris Triantafyllidis, Finance Director

Mr Triantafyllidis is a chartered accountant (ICAEW), holder of a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance and member of the Economic Chamber of Greece.

He practiced audit for a number of years by working for London based audit firms and upon his return to Greece held the position of Audit Manager in KPMG Greece. In 2005 he was appointed as advisor of the Financial and Management Accounting Division of National Bank of Greece and in November 2006 assumed the position of Finance Director of ASTIR PALACE VOULIAGMENIS SA.

Pia Nielsen Director of Revenue Manager

Pia Nielsen is the Complex Director of Revenue Management at the Astir Palace, Athens, Greece. She assumed duties with Astir Palace recently having transferred to Athens from U.S.A where she was holding the position of the Director of Revenue Management from 2002 since December 2009.

Pia Nielsen started her carrier in the hotel industry in 1990 as Marketing Resources Manager in California and from 1994 since 2002, was working in different positions in various towns such as New Orleans L.A., Hawaii Honolulu, San Francisco, California.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Information Systems, (1992) and she has also participated in many training programs(six sigma greenbelt training, W Brand training, Starwood Rev. Mgmt Academy e.t.c.). She has also won “Forecasting Accurancy Award twice (2006, 2007), “Most Improved RevPar Index “Award (2006, 2007) and Nominated for Revenue Management Leader of the Year 2005.

Grégory De Clerck, Complex General Manager Astir Palace

Grégory de Clerck is the Complex General Manager at the Astir Palace, Athens, Greece. He assumed duties with Astir Palace recently having transferred to Athens from Sheraton La Caleta, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain where he was holding the position of the General Manager since January 2006, having transferred form the Park Lane Hotel London, Piccadilly. His previous positions were in the Netherlands where he was area Six Sigma Manager. Based at Hotel Pulitzer, Luxury Collection (and overseeing the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel and the Westin Rotterdam,) Grégory de Clerck managed the role out of the Six Sigma culture and methodology across three Starwood properties in the region.

Grégory De Clerck started his career in the hotel industry in 1989 as a corporate trainee at the Sheraton Towers in Cancun Mexico – a Luxury collection property. He then moved to Hyatt with whom he stayed for 11 years in different positions in various countries such as Paris, Casablanca, Belgrade, the Dead Sea, and Jerusalem. In April 2001 Grégory de Clerck returned to his Sheraton beginnings and joined Starwood. At the Astir Palace he oversees the overall management and the day to day running of the complex which consists of the Arion, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa hotel, the Westin Athens hotel and the soon to open W Athens.

 

John Bograkos-Tzanetakos, Complex Financial Controller of Astir Palace Vouliagmeni

John Bograkos-Tzanetakos was born 1969 in Muenster, Germany. He holds a ΜΒΑ in Business Administration from the University of Bielefeld with specialization in Finance. Before taking over the position of the Complex Financial Controller of the Hotel Complex Astir Palace Vouliagmeni managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts in June 2008, he worked for F.G. EUROPE S.A. He started his professional career with the audit firm Arthur Andersen.

 

Maria Vesleme, Complex Director of Human Resources

She holds a Master’s Degree of Business Administration (MBA) with major in Human Resources Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA. She started her career in 1992 in Human Resources at Koumbas group (insurance sector), where she remained until2001, when she assumed the position of Deputy Director of Human Resources of Everest group (food and beverage sector).

In 2002, she moved to the company Hellenic Entertainment Parks S.A. (entertainment sector) as Director of Human Resources. On November 1st 2006, she joined the Astir Palace as Complex Director of Human Resources, under the management of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
