ASTIR PALACE VOULIAGMENIS S.A.

Polychronis Griveas, Managing Director

On October 1st 2006 Mr. Polychronis Griveas joined the Astir Palace's Board of Directors as an executive member, and was appointed to the Deputy CEO position. He is an MBA graduate of highly acclaimed hotel management schools in Switzerland and the United States of America, and he has held several executive level positions at the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, XV Beacon Hotel and at the largest Hotel/Casino in the world, Foxwoods Resorts & Casinos, all of them in the U.S.A.

Prior to undertaking his role at Astir, he served, for a period of 3,5 years, as the Chief Operating Officer of Sofitel Capsis Hotels and as a General Manager of its 691 guestroom resort, and largest conference Center in Greece, Sofitel Rhodes.

As of April of 2011, he accepted the position of Senior Advisor in Astir's parent company, National Bank of Greece, on the Bank's large hotel portfolio to manage its underused hotel assets. In July of 2012 he returned to Astir Palace as its Chief Executive Officer, to lead the company thought today's challenging business environment.

Mr. Griveas has served as Vice President of ACEO (Association of Chief Executive Officers), is the Vice President of EHMA's (European Hotel Manager Association), Greek-Cyprus delegation and active member of AHEPA (American Hellenic Education Progressive Association), Cornell University Alumni and Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce.

 

Stefanos Kontostergios, Director of Finance

Mr. Kontostergios joined Astir Palace Vouliagmenis SA and assumed the position of Director of Finance on September 28th 2015.He holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from University of Athens & a Master's Degree (MSc) with major in Finance from Strathclyde University.

He started his career at Xerox Hellas in 1999, while over the last 14 years has built a very strong presence & experience in the Hospitality industry working with Int'l Luxury Hotel Chains.

Mr. Kontostergios has held senior finance positions in Marriott Int'l Hotels, working at Marriott Athens (2002-2006) & Marriott Copenhagen (2006), before joining Hilton Athens in December 2006 as Deputy Finance Director.

In 2009, he was appointed to the position of Finance Director and member of the Snr Executive team that opened the Hotels & the Operational portfolio in Costa Navarino. He has been awarded for Outstanding Contribution towards Guests, Business & Associates in 2010 (Starwood president's Award).

Prior to undertaking his role in Astir, the last 4 years, Mr. Kontostergios served as Member of the Snr. Executive Team in TEMES SA. (Costa Navarino Owners & Developers – Portfolio of Resorts, Golf courses, Real Estate etc.).

He is a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece.

 

Costas Papachristoforou, Complex Hotel Manager

Born in Limassol Cyprus on February 1960 and lives permanently in Greece.

He studied Hotel Administration in Washington D.C., U.S.A, holds a Master Degree in Sales & Marketing from Michigan State. During his stay in the United States he started his professional career in the international chains of Hotels HOLIDAY INN and FOUR SEASONS.

Over the last 25years he has a very strong position in the Hospitality Sector in Cyprus and Greece and was General Director in word wide known luxury International Hotel Chains. Briefly to mention the GOLDEN BAY Hotel (Cyprus), ROYAL MARE THALASSO, KNOSSOS ROYAL VILLAGE of ALDEMAR Hotels & Spa Group of Hotels.

During his cooperation and service with Aldemar Group of Hotels he held the position of Group General Director responsible for the all 8 group hotels members. Till today in his career he was also General Director for FODELE BEACH, PORTO ELOUNDA, ELOUNDA PENINSULA and AVRA IMPERIAL BEACH RESORT & SPA in Crete and HYDRA BEACH in Porto Heli, while he lead and organized the Openings of 8 new Hotel Resorts and City Hotels.

Last he was the General Director at THERMAE SYLLA SPA & WELLNESS HOTEL, a SPA premise in Aidipsos in Evia Island in Greece.

He is certified Hospitality Trainer and Professor- Seminar Leader. Fluent in English, French and Italian.

Since 1991 he holds the International distinction C.H.A. Certified Hotel Administrator, internationally known and accredited as the Highest Distinction in the Hotel Tourism Industry.

He is also member of many International and Greek Professional Associations such as the Chartered Management Institute, Institute of Hospitality, Chartered Institute of Marketing, European Union of Hotel Managers, Pancretan & Association of Hotel Managers and Cyprus Hotel Managers Association, Member of the Rotery Club since 1991 (in Crete, Cyprus & Vouliagmeni Athens Club).

In 2004 the "CHAINE DES ROTISSEURS" the International Gastronomy Association knighted him in Paris as "Gastronomy Knight / Maitre Hotelier".

He is an Art and Antiques Collector, while during his leisure time he travels and follows international and local culinary trends.

 

Maria Vesleme, Complex Director of Human Resources

She holds a Master’s Degree of Business Administration (MBA) with major in Human Resources Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA. She started her career in 1992 in Human Resources at Koumbas group (insurance sector), where she remained until2001, when she assumed the position of Deputy Director of Human Resources of Everest group (food and beverage sector).

In 2002, she moved to the company Hellenic Entertainment Parks S.A. (entertainment sector) as Director of Human Resources. On November 1st 2006, she joined the Astir Palace as Complex Director of Human Resources, under the management of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
